Laws Governing Public Records Requests

Our Commitment to Transparency

Umatilla Rural Fire Protection District is committed to open government and providing public access to District records in accordance with Oregon law.

Requests for District public records are governed by Oregon’s Public Records Law, ORS 192.311–192.478. This law applies to Oregon public bodies, including special districts, and establishes the public’s right to inspect or obtain copies of records, subject to applicable exemptions.

Your Right to Access Public Records

Members of the public may request existing records maintained by the District. These may include meeting minutes, agendas, budgets, financial reports, policies, resolutions, and other records relating to District business.

The District processes requests in accordance with Oregon law, including requirements governing response times, allowable fees, and disclosure. Certain records or portions of records may be withheld or redacted when authorized or required by law. When a record contains both exempt and nonexempt information, the District will provide the nonexempt portions as required by law.
