The Umatilla Rural Fire Protection District logged 528 calls for service in 2010.  This total makes 2010 the busiest year we have had in the past 14 years.  Most of the calls were for EMS services and very few were for fire.  This also makes 2010 the safest fire year we have had in the past 14 years.  The dramatic increase in call volume may be attributable to a variety of factors including population growth, but in any event, it represents a substantial increase in the workload being applied to an all volunteer response force.
